The Participation Banks Association of Turkey utilizes TURBOARD Business Intelligence and data visualization to raise public awareness of the sector’s services, importance, and contribution to Turkey’s economy.
TKBB decided to transform its public data service into something more comprehensive, accessible, and visually powerful. The goal was to make the sector’s economic contribution more visible, promote its financial products and services, and strengthen public communication. At the same time, the aim was to build a transparent data platform that would positively contribute to the sector’s perception and reputation.
The Participation Banks Association of Turkey (TKBB in Turkish) is the main representative body of the participation banking sector in Turkey. Established as a professional public institution under the relevant provisions of the Banking Law, TKBB works in close cooperation with public authorities, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders in the sector.
With nine participation banks active in Turkey, the sector reached a 9.2% market share as of mid-2026. The long-term target is to raise this figure to 15%. In line with this strategic goal, TKBB supports the development of world-class financial products and services, while also aiming to deepen public understanding of the contribution participation banking makes to Turkey’s economy.
TKBB has long shared various data on the participation banking sector with the public through its website. However, this data was initially presented in simple Excel files, which limited users’ ability to derive meaningful value from it.
The control, consolidation, and preparation of data collected from participation banks was also largely carried out through manual processes. This created a significant operational burden and made it difficult to publish data in a timely, standardized, and consistent manner.
With TURBOARD’s centralized reporting and data visualization infrastructure, the previously manual data preparation processes were automated. It became possible to detect data inconsistencies before publication.
This transformation significantly reduced the operational workload and delivered considerable time savings. It helped TKBB consistently meet its data publication schedule, while also strengthening the currency, standardization, and transparency of the published data.

Through collaborative work between TKBB and TURBOARD teams, user-friendly, interactive, and visually rich statistical reports were developed. This structure, which allows users to explore and analyze data, was brought together under a single platform called “Data Honeycomb” (“Veri Peteği” in Turkish).
Data Honeycomb, powered by TURBOARD and offered as a white-labeled platform, has been bringing the latest data, insights, and statistical reports on the participation banking sector to the public.
Data Honeycomb is accessible online through TKBB’s website. The platform is also available anytime and anywhere through the “TKBB Veri Peteği” mobile application. The platform’s data is updated periodically from TKBB’s and the participation banks’ data stores.
Participation banking professionals, researchers, academics, and anyone interested in the sector can benefit from the platform free of charge. An unlimited number of users can access the following data and analyses:
Lease certificates (sukuk) issue volume, currency-protected participation accounts, independent audit reports, banking key performance indicators, and statistics of allocated funds distribution (covering various contract types such as benevolent loans, profit sharing, and various partnership and leasing types).
Standardized, comparable data across the participation banks, allowing users to benchmark and compare banks’ figures through different breakdowns and filters.
Historical profit-sharing and dividend distribution ratios, filtered by time periods, providing insights into account profitability (TL, USD, EUR, and gold) across the participation banks, helping users track trends and make informed financial decisions.
Historical trends of the sector’s key indicators over time, enabling users to track developments and changes across periods on a single platform.
Active number of customers and transactions volume. Data can be filtered and examined in detail at the province and district level.
Number of branches and accessible ATM locations for all participation banks.
