[Article] Journey to Add Value to Your Product with Embedded Business Intelligence

Do you have your own web based product? Do you want to add value to your users and product with business intelligence?

There are some criteria to consider before choosing an embedded analysis platform. We are here to make that decision easy for you.

First and foremost, you have to consider how the business intelligence solution will look like when you embed it into your website. You don’t want the embedded part to look like it is a completely different product from your own. You have to make sure the embedding looks like it’s part of your product.

The second important consideration is Security and the ability to do Single Sign-ins. Single sign-ins and user authentications remove the necessity to sign-in in two different products when going back and forth between the two. It allows users to login in one place and authenticates the user for all authorized applications. With user defined parameters; data sources, dashlets, dashboards and showcases can be authorized on a user basis. With this approach, users can only see the fields they were authorized to see.

Another thing to consider is the Speed of the business intelligence solution. In today’s data oriented world, speed is the name of the game. You can’t afford to wait for predictions. You need real time information in order to make data oriented decisions. Speed has a few meanings in terms of business intelligence:

Speed to start working
  • How long will it take for your team to be efficient with the software?
  • What is the learning process and how long does it take?
Speed when creating reports, data visualisations, dashboards
  • What is involved in the compilation process?
  • Can you create applications within minutes?
  • How long does the creation take? Hours? Days? Minutes?
Speed in collection of information
  • How fast and easy can the end users get the information they need?
  • Is it a multi-step process or is the information at your fingertips?
  • Can you get exports in the formats that you want?
Another issue to consider for embedded use is API Integration. Modern embedded analytical solutions need to provide API integrations. This allows the application to send and get data from other applications.

You would also want to have an automatic warning system and notifications. In traditional business intelligence solutions, in order to make any prediction you would have to look at physical reports or dashboards. Modern tools need to be proactive and allow users to get warnings and notifications for critical changes.

To sum up, what can a business intelligence solution add to your product and company?
  1. Access better reports with less hassle,
  2. Make this process sustainable, allows you to enrich your reports with new versions,
  3. Provides a competitive advantage,
  4. Increases your revenue with upsell,
  5. Allows your users to use the reports more actively and see more details,
  6. Saves you time,
  7. Increases the value of your product.
We hope that this article has given you clear ideas about how embedded business intelligence solutions work.
